Organic rice bran CO₂ extract is a distinctive speciality oil for cosmetic formulations. The dark green to brownish oil has a characteristic natural odour and contains gamma-oryzanol, a natural complex of ferulic acid esters and phytosterols. Because of its composition, the extract is typically used as a partial component of formulations.
The extract is obtained from the germ and silverskin that arise during rice processing. CO₂ extraction turns these side streams into a concentrated plant extract for a range of formulation concepts.
From a formulation perspective, rice bran extract is characterised by a balanced ratio of oleic and linoleic acid and a comparatively high proportion of palmitic acid. This fatty acid profile is complemented by gamma-oryzanol and other natural accompanying substances. The extract can be incorporated as a partial component into oil blends and the oil phase of emulsions.
The product is suitable for facial and body care, serums, creams and emulsions and hair care formulations.
