Product description

Cold-pressed organic broccoli seed oil is a plant-based speciality oil with a characteristically dry, silky sensory profile and is often used in cosmetic formulations as a natural alternative to silicones. The golden, delicately nutty-scented oil offers good slip and spreadability and a light, non-greasy finish.

The oil is obtained by gentle cold pressing from broccoli seeds, which contain approx. 10% oil. Processing the oil as a virgin oil preserves its characteristic colour and delicately nutty natural odour.

In formulation terms, broccoli seed oil is characterised by its long-chain fatty acids and in particular its high erucic acid content, complemented by oleic and linoleic acid. This fatty acid profile contributes to the oil’s characteristic slip and silky sensory profile. This makes it particularly suitable for formulations that call for spreadability, a light sensory profile and a smooth finish.

The product is suitable for shampoos, conditioners, leave-in products, hair oils and styling formulations as well as lip products, make-up and light skin care formulations.

Cold-pressed oils have a limited shelf life and – with a few exceptions – should not be heated to high temperatures.
